Kam Dixon returned to Oulton Park for two days of valuable track time in the final Bennetts BSB R&G Official Test ahead of the 2025 season opener.
Despite mixed fortunes across the two days, Kam continued building confidence on board the Tinkler’s Yamaha R1, setting competitive lap times and gaining crucial data around the physically demanding 2.692-mile circuit.
The opening day started with a small tip-off at Druids in the first session. Thankfully, there was no serious damage to Kam or the bike, and he was back on track for the remaining sessions.
Session 1: 5th in session, 2nd in class – 1:43.638 (3 laps)
Session 2: 7th in session, 4th in class – 1:38.848 (8 laps)
Session 3: 7th in session, 4th in class – 1:37.433 (13 laps)
By the end of the day, Kam had completed 24 laps, with a fastest time of 1:37.433, just 0.024 seconds off the next fastest Superstock machine. He wrapped up the day 5th fastest in class overall – a strong recovery after the early incident.
Thursday saw more consistent running, with Kam improving further and continuing to find pace in the Yamaha R1 package.
Session 1: 3rd in session, 1st in class – 1:37.160 (12 laps)
Session 2: 8th in session, 6th in class – 1:37.062 (10 laps)
Session 3: 3rd in session, 3rd in class – 1:37.167 (6 laps)
Kam logged 28 laps across the day, with a best time of 1:37.062, which placed him 6th fastest in class in the combined classification.
With two official tests now in the books and strong pace shown across both Donington and Oulton Park, Kam is feeling confident heading into the first race weekend of the year.
“Things didn’t quite go to plan over the last two days, but there were still a lot of positives to take away. We showed some real pace and made a big step forward from the last time out, which is encouraging. I’m still learning and pushing hard, and sometimes that means getting it wrong. I’m gutted about the mistakes I made but I’ll come back stronger and I’m looking forward to getting the season started at Oulton next weekend.”
Round 1 of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike season kicks off at Oulton Park from 3rd – 5th May.
